Artist books happen when artists make books. Artists push the boundaries. They look at the limits people place around the word 'book' and they expand those limits. They take the book outside the everyday. They exploit the elements of the book and the familiarity of the object. They make objects that are barely recognisable as books, but they speak to their audience with the book form. There is no accepted definition of an artist book, but there are many areas of agreement.
